Should I Worry – Pilonidal Sinus
I Have a Pilonidal Sinus #ShouldIWorry?
A pilonidal sinus (PNS) is a small hole in the skin, usually located near the cleft at the top of your rear.
While the condition’s exact cause isn’t known, a pilonidal sinus may develop into a cyst as the hole starts to become inflamed and infected, leading to pain when sitting or standing.
In most cases, this can cause severe pain and should inflammation occur, the cyst may develop into an abscess, causing pus and blood to ooze from the boil. In this case, the condition may have evolved into a perianal abscess.
Depending on the severity, it may require up to 4 to 10 weeks to treat the condition.
